Default My alternate flying site

I've had a few guys from MARKS as well as a few of my customers who visit my workshop ask me where I fly my planes. Most of my planes are big and I have to pull my enclosed trailer to bring them to any flying site. The price of fuel has caused me to use my trailer-pulling Ford F-150 w/ V8 less and less these days except strictly for business. I do strive to get to the MARKS field whenever I can...but for convenience sake, here is my alternate flying site.
Ex MARKS member, Robert Spurr, has gotten back into flying RC pretty heavily these days, flying giant scale airplane just like me. He's a good kit builder but prefers ARFs these days. His flying field, which we've officially named 'the Girdletree RC Airfield' is on Bird Hill Road in Girdletree just south of the Girdletree greater metropolitan area. It's a great field to fly out of and the greatest thing of all is he's only a 1 minute drive from my house. That's where I spend a good portion of my summer evenings past couple of years. It's somewhat rural in that area and we've deemed it generally safe to fly there.
Here are a few shots of us flying one recent calm evening.

Default Last three...

Here's a fly-by of Bob's PT-19 Fairchild. The plane is powered by a G38, weighs about 18# and has an 89'' wing span. The plane was peviously owned by me and is a very stable flyer...just as a trainer should. I'm flying my H9 Taylorcrft on this day. Smiles to everyone!

Beautiful looking site. I know my PICA P-51 would love to visit someday in 2009 if I actually finish it this winter. With an 89" WS and US 41cc engine, she's too big for the CBRC field and her pilot hates crowds (especially on Maiden Day).

Default No crowds

If you don't like crowds, this is the perfect field to fly in. An occasional car goes by on this quiet country road. The trees you see in the background run alongside the runway block most of the wind for takeoff and landing but are back far enough not to cause any trouble. Just know how to use your rudder!
It's a good place to maiden a plane and Bob and I will turn our heads away so you can have the ultimate in privacy on maiden day. But you know we're gonna peek!

I was actually half expecting you to reply with "Get your own private flying site." Thanks for allowing me to invite myself down. I will definitely attempt at finishing my P51 for an '09 unveiling. And by the way, peeking is allowed, it helps keep track of all the pieces.

It is very beautiful site. I liked very much. This place is perfect place to field.
Such place will have crowds. You can enjoy flying whole day. No problem will be faced in landing and takeoff.
